Correlational relationships between yield and productivity elements in spring barley accessions from African genetic center
Nikolay Neykov
Abstract: The aim of the study was to generate information on interrelationships of some important productivity elements, direct and indirect effects of these characters on yield of spring barley accessions from African genetic center. The study was conducted in the IPGR – Sadovo during the period 2012-2014 with 37 spring barley accessions from African genetic center. In all studied barley accessions, statistically proven mean to strong correlations (r=0.540-0.897) were established between yield and productive tillers per plant, grain mass per spike, grain mass per plant, number of grains per spike. The path-coefficient analysis shows that the traits productive tillers per plant and grain mass per spike have the highest direct effect on yield.
