Study on the growth processes of in vitro hop plants (H. lupulus L.) under different light conditions

Abstract: Seven varieties of hop (H. lupulus L.) have been used to study establishing the influence of light intensity on growth dynamics of microcuttings with and without leaf, cultivated in vitro. The results showed that a light of 1000 to 6000 lx has a unidirectional action on the formation of the root system. The different growth rate of the roots for both groups of microcuttings was determined by the presence or absence of a leaf, regardless of the light intensity. Light intensity has an emphasized influence on the growth rate of shoots. The most rapid shoot growth was achieved at 3000 lx. At 1000 lx shoot growth was delayed and the intensity of 6000 lx had a suppressing effect. Shoot growth of in vitro cultivated hop microcuttings with a leaf was enhanced for the three tested levels of light intensity.
