Use of dispersion and correlation analysis for valuation of group synthetic maize populations
Dochka Dimova, Natalia Petrovska
Abstract: The correlation relationships between quantitative traits, biometrical and qualitative traits of synthetic populations of maize are investigated.
High positive correlations between the period germination – teaseling and moisture in the grain and the oil content in the grain are found, also between length of the grain and MVK and between the protein and oil content in the grain. Between the starch content and oil and protein in the grain the correlations are significantly negative. The established correlation relationships with high level of significance can be used in more effective breeding programs.
