Elements of agro-technological scheme in reference to yield and quality of dry leaves in Virginia tobacco variety Haskovo 755
Ivko Stamatov, Antoaneta Yancheva
Abstract: New Virginia tobacco variety Haskovo 755 features a large biological power. It is highly susceptible to changes in farming technologies. For proposing the variety in mass production it needs to be accompanied with well-tested agro-technological scheme of farming which can provide utmost realization of its pledged genetic potential. Complex agronomic experiment was conducted in the Experimental Station of Tobacco – Haskovo during the period 2006-2009 with the new variety „Haskovo 755“, comprising two norms of mineral fertilization with combined fertilizer NPK 15.15.15 (133 kg/ha and 266 kg/ha), two planting distances inside the lines (35 and 45 cm) and system-forming foliage with wringing of inflorescences. Wringing of inflorescences has the greatest impact on the size of the average yield. By removing the flower bunches, assimilations can be redistributed in tobacco leaves, they become larger, heavier and with greater density without impacting negatively on their quality.
