Phenological observation of new sweet cherry cultivars in the region of Kyustendil
Nikolai Hristov, Anita Stoeva
Abstract: The study was conducted in 2014-2016 at the Institute of Agriculture – Kyustendil, on 27 sweet cherry cultivars. Standard cultivars, Bigarreau Burlat, Bing and Kozerska were used. The trees were planted in the spring of 1996, with a planting distance of 6 x 5m, grown under non-irrigation conditions and formed into a free crown. It was found that the ‘full-bloom’ phase occurred most early for Superstar, Seneca, and for Merton premier cultivars between 29 03. and 31 03., while the latest flowering for Blackgold was 18 04. The cultivars Superstar (23 05.), Seneca (27 05.), Patriotka Krima (29 05.), Nadezda (01 06.) and Bigarreau Burlat (02 06.) are with early ripening fruit dates. Most of the studied cultivars are with medium ripening period, from 09 06. for Pollax to 20 06. for 11-W-15-37, and late for Blackgold on 25 06., Lapins, Castor (26 06.), NY 9295 (28 06.) and for 13-S-22-8 (01 07.).
