Correlation between some main black currant traits
Nedyalka Stoyanova
Abstract: Indicators to study black currant appear to be interrelated. The objective of this investigation is to find out the coefficient of correlation for both the certain cultivar (Belaruskaya sladkaya, Minaj Shmirev, Ben Nevis, Ben Lomond, Black currant + R.b.d., Dochka) and the group of all studied cultivars (28 ones are included). A positive correlation between the following traits has been determined: fruit (berry) weight and yield (r = 0.86+++); cluster length and number of blossoms and number of berries per cluster (r = 0.49+), (r = 0.42+); number of clusters and number of berries (r = 0.74++); number of blossoms, number of berries and yield (r = 0.69++), (r = 0.77++); number of blossoms and number of berries (r = 0.74++); self-fertility and yield (r = 0.30). It should be highlighted that the correlation between fruit weight and vitamin C composition in fruit is negative and proved (r = -0.81+++). This finding is valid for all of the studied varieties.
