Heterosis behaviour of sorghum and sudangrass hybrids in flowering stage
Tzvetan Kikindonov, Kalin Slanev, Stanimir Enchev, Georgi Kinkindonov
Abstract: In recent years Sorghum × Sudangrass hybrids are becoming a promising forage crop for production of green mass, especially in conditions of extreme drought during vegetation. The results from tests for productivity heterosis in Sorghum × Sudangrass hybrids in 2009 and 2010 are presented. Reported heterosis effect towards pollinators and the standard varieties enables the selection of hybrids with high yield potential. Perspective hybrids have been selected with proven higher green and dry mass productivity than the standard commercial varieties.
