Yields of early potato in conventional and biological production
Dochka Dimova, Tencho Cholakov, Hriska Boteva
Abstract: An experiment with three potato varieties according to the principles of biological method was carried out in 2008-2010 on the field of the Maritsa vegetable Crops Research Institute, Plovdiv. The effect of biological fertilizers Montera malts, Emosan and Vermicompost on the plant productivity was studied. Plants were grown according to the biological method with no use of conventional pesticides. In the control variant with early potato was applied conventional production with use of mineral fertilizers (N16P12K12). It was established that the highest yield (early and total) have been obtained in the variants application of Montera malts (200 kg/da). The differences towards the conventional production depending on the variety are from 10.2 to 28.1% depending on the mineral fertilization. The effect of liquid fertilizer Emosan on the economic productivity of the plants is more slightly expressed compared to that of Montera malts. The corresponding differences are in the range from 15.6% to 30.3%. Variety Marine is suitable for including in the systems for organic cultivation. Differences between the yields from conventional
and biological production of this variety are the slightest and they are statistically proven.
