Technological factors influencing upon essential oil yield of coriander seeds by distillation
Nikolay Dyulgerov, Аnatoli Dzhurmanski, Boryana Dyulgerova, Genka Zhekova
Abstract: Technologic investigation by distillation of coriander seeds show that violated seed’s surface shell leads to increasing in yield of essential oil from 15 to 20% to distillation of whole but seed ground to 0.25 – 1 mm doesn’t influence. Water – steam distillation best parameters are hidromodule 1:10 and ratio material:volume of flask 1:20. The essential oil distillates to 50% during the first 20 min to 1 hour – 75% and to 2 hour – 90 - 91%. The adding of acid in distillation water to pH 4–6 leads to increasing of yield from 16 to 25%. The seed with the smallest size – absolute weight 4.3 g - contains 8–9% more essential oil than another seed with absolute weight 6.6 and 10.6 g. During the storage, the seeds decrease essential oil yield to 30% near after the second year.
