Fruit distribution within walnut tree canopy depending on light exposure
Stefan Gandev, Erdal Isuf, Nikola Tsaikin
Резюме: The trial was conducted with 15-year old experimental trees of ‘Izvor 10’ cultivar grafted on common walnut (Juglans regia L.) rootstock and planted at 10×10 m distance. The aim of the study was to establish fruit distribution
in the separate parts of the walnut tree canopy depending on light exposure. It was established that fruiting was unevenly distributed within the walnut tree canopy. It was concluded that shading of separate parts of the tree canopy resulted in reduced yield only in the shaded parts, which indirectly proves the existing autonomy in the separate parts of the canopy and shoots, respectively. In walnut production practice it is recommended to conduct pruning after the formation of fruit fence.
