Breeding value of soybean hybrids derived from crossbreeding with high-protein germplasm
Galina Naydenova
Резюме: For the purpose of conducting a tandem selection with an initial selection for seed yield per plant and subsequent – for protein content in the seeds, crosses of foreign varieties with increased protein content with varieties adapted to the conditions of Bulgaria were carried out. This study presents the results of the breeding and genetic analysis of seed yield per plant and from the observations on recombinant variability in earliness and growth habits in the second hybrid generation of 8 hybrid combinations. The highest degree transgressive forms concerning seed yield per plant has been observed in hybrid combination Felix x Isidor, and the lowest - for Darina x Srebrina. The additive genetic variance in combinations Felix x Richi, Felix x Srebrina and Romantica x Srebrina is high. The plants which have been selected for seed yield in the second hybrid generation of these crosses are suitable for creating lines to be subjected to a protein content selection. The Saikai 20 x Isidor hybrid population is also a great opportunity, but the selection for seed yield must be run in parallel with selection for protein content to the late generations. Earliness can be used as an additional selection criterion in the hybrid progenies of crossings of varieties Romantica and Saikai 20.
